A full description of NA49 can be found in the NA49 home page. To get an idea of the complexity of the events, we present here 3 examples (thanks to Tom Trainor) of tracks in the various TPCs. In central Pb+Pb events, the average multiplicity is about 2800 baryons, with 1750 charged tracks, of which 1200 are identified and analyzed. The event size is in the range of 8 to 12 Mbytes.
